II. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA— In order to meet Brown Act requirements, items may be added to the agenda only upon decision by a majority of the Board of Directors to add the item because of a need for immediate action.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT / PRESENTATIONS –
Any individual wishing to comment on the agenda or an item not on the agenda may do so by emailing gmontano@rapfoundation.org or calling in at the number above. All emailed comments must be received prior to the 11:00 AM start time. Persons wishing to speak are requested to be recognized at the appropriate time. General comments regarding non-agenda items will be called for at this time. Specific comments regarding agenda items will be called for during the discussion of each item. Please be prepared to limit your Public Comment remarks to three (3) minutes.

A. Nominations-Per RAP Foundation Board Policy, only RAP Foundation Board members can be the Committee Chair and the Committee Vice-Chair.

B. Desert Fast Pitch (Spring 2022 Cancellation)

1. The coronavirus pandemic continues to take a toll across the world. After careful consideration and deliberation, staff recommends the cancelation of the Desert Fast Pitch Spring event due to COVID disruptions.

 

2. Staff recommends the reallocation of the approximately $66,000.00 previously allocated to Desert Fast Pitch to the NPO Centric program

a. Recommended NPO Centric uses:

i. RAP Foundation Small Grants – $20,000

ii. Special Grants for local nonprofits for Board Development, Strategic Planning, Fundraising Coaching, Website Development, Collaboration Coaching – $16,000

iii. Creation of digital products, creation of content, and marketing to increase membership and awareness of the program – $25,000

iv. Small, outdoor event for local nonprofits in the late Spring – $5,000

    1. Paid speaker(s)
    2. Networking and Learning Event to keep RAP Foundation and NPO Centric at the top of mind, and allow a space for nonprofits to reconnect with and support each other.

Staff Recommendation: Cancel Desert Fast Pitch and reallocate the funds to improve the NPO Centric program, increase products the program can sell to increase revenue, and help local nonprofits.

V. Desert Fast Pitch Fall 2022

A. Desert Fast Pitch for Fall 2022

Staff Recommendation: Schedule the Desert Fast Pitch for Fall 2022. (The prize money is of $66,000 comes from the grants program, and the cost of the Desert Fast Pitch event is covered by funds raised by the NPO Centric staff through sponsorships.)
